This Logo Tells a Story

My father was an American soldier who served two tours in Vietnam. It was his first tour, where he flew as a door gunner with the 173rd Assault Helicopter Company, of which he was most proud. The 173rd were known as the Robinhoods and when they flew they wore yellow scarves around their necks and their Huey’s sported a Robinhood hat as nose art.

Lai Khe is the name of the village and rubber plantation in which they were based. The cross-like logo of Lai Khe Film Productions represents the rotors of the metal birds that became an icon of the war, the yellow, of course, represents the heroes that served in the Robinhoods.

The Lai Khe Film Productions company is currently developing a film that honors the men of the Robinhoods and all the men and women, on both sides, who were marked by that war.

The company is dedicated to my father: soldier, reluctant hero, father to his “boys” in the 173rd, and a lifelong teller of tales.
